Building Access
  • All Sam Fox School buildings will be card access only. Please do not prop doors or let visitors into our buildings.
Building Hours
  • During the fall and spring semesters, all Sam Fox School buildings will close at midnight; students are asked to leave the buildings at 11:30p. The Sam Fox School buildings will reopen at 6:00a.
  • Shuttle transportation is available around campus and to surrounding off-campus neighborhoods from the Mallinckrodt Bus Plaza. Please check individual shuttle routes for details. All Shuttles in service feature reduced capacity, a mask requirement for drivers and passengers and deep, frequent cleanings. WashU ID’s are required upon boarding (except the Campus Circulator).  Please have your ID ready to present to the shuttle driver.
Cleaning & Maintenance
  • Shared spaces (classrooms, lecture spaces, and studio spaces) will have regular cleaning daily. Please keep spaces as tidy as possible to aid custodians.
  • Individual users are responsible for cleaning touch points before and after use. These include: remote controls, door handles, AV controls, dry erase markers, vending machine buttons/screens, and shared tools and machinery.
  • Hand sanitizer and sanitation wipe stations will be available around the Sam Fox School buildings.
Studio Spaces
  • Masks are strongly encouraged in all studio spaces.
  • Eating is not allowed in classrooms or studios. Students for whom eating during class is medically necessary should be allowed to leave the classroom briefly to do so.
  • Drinking beverages is permitted—preferably from a lidded tumbler or water bottle.
Kemper Art Museum

The Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum will remain open to the public and allow individual visits (but not group visits).  Admission is free. All Museum guests must wear a mask, and must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to enter the Museum. View details here >>

Common Spaces

Eating Spaces

Please carefully follow the guidance below. Cleaning supplies are provided in the School’s designated eating  spaces to wipe down furniture before and after use. When weather permits, outdoor eating is recommended. You may also want to consider Campus Dining options

  • There are three designated areas for students, faculty, and staff to eat in the Sam Fox School: Etta’s, Kuehner Court, and Weil Hall Commons.
  • Sit at least 6 feet apart from others when choosing to eat in a designated eating space.
  • You may remove your mask while eating/drinking in these marked spaces. Put your mask back on when you are not eating/drinking.
  • Please exit the space as quickly as possible when you are done to make space for other students, faculty, or staff.
  • Eating is not allowed elsewhere in the buildings.
Etta’s
  • Etta’s has permanently closed. Please check back for updates about on-campus dining options. 
  • Other spaces to visit are the coffee bar at the Kemper Art Museum, Parkside Cafe in Schnuck Pavilion, Bytes Cafe in McKelvey Hall, and the newly opened Coffeestamp at Grounds for Change in Hillman Hall. 
  • Furniture should not be moved around the space; tables should be cleaned before and after use.
